I Pray For Their Safety

This morning, while I was on my way to the office, I was listening to the news from the radio. This has been my dad's habit whenever he sends me off to work so he will be updated with the traffic reports.

And as we listen to the news, there was an accident reported that happened at around 6:00 in the morning at the Commonwealth. There was a bus who flipped on the street and according to some witnesses, the driver was driving too fast that he wasn't able to control the speed when he was trying to avoid a car.

As of 8:00 in the morning, 8 people were reported injured and it was said that the driver and the conductor escaped and left the victims behind. They were suspecting that the driver might be driving under the influence of alcohol that's why he was totally out of control.

This is a bit disappointing and I feel sorry for all the victims. It will be difficult for them to asked for financial assistance since the driver escaped. But good thing they were able to get the plate number and company name of the bus. I think they really need to get a good lawyer just like the Houston DWI lawyers who can handle cases like this in the most positive ways.

Now I'm wondering what happened to the victims as of this moment. I just hope and pray that they will be fine and no major injuries happened to them. And likewise, I pray that they will be given the justice that they deserve.

Preparing for Election

October 14 is the official start of the campaign period for the upcoming Barangay and SK election this October 25, 2010. As I filed my Certificate of Candidacy during the first week of October, my family, especially my mom and dad, have been very busy for the preparations for the campaign.

For your information, I’ll run as a Kagawad of our barangay as an independent candidate. My mom was obviously the one who pushed me to run since she’s the our outgoing Chairman of our barangay for she have served for 3 consecutive terms already. She really wants me to be part of the council as she sees that I have the potential to be a good leader because of my background during my school days.

As of now, we are still planning on what to do for the campaign but for sure, we’ll make posters and tarpaulins for the people to recognize me. Later after work, I’ll have a picture taking with my brother-in-law so that he’ll be able to layout my tarpaulin so we won’t be in a rush in the printing process.

I’m a bit nervous for the election is fast approaching but I’m always ready to take the challenge.

A Big NO!

It’s almost a week now since the 2010 Election. It was the first automated election here in the Philippines and that’s why many people looked forward to it. But ever since this automated election was suggested, many people are protesting for they have doubts that this can be more prone to errors and people will be able to cheat easily.

I am also against with this automated election. Considering that I am a programmer, I know how to manipulate a program and I definitely have so many doubts with this and I don’t think that we are indeed ready for this kind of election.

I participated in the 2010 election as an official youth watcher of one of the candidates and I witnessed and just proved that I was right because I saw how the machine produced a wrong output during the testing and sealing held 5 days before the election.

I was really not convinced and that’s why during the election, I took the responsibility to observe everything and everyone in the vicinity. If only they have enough security just like the home security systems provided in each room, then I guess I would have lesser doubts.

I just hope that all declared winners after the election will do their best and perform their responsibilities well for we gave their trust to them in serving our country.
